About the World Haiku Festival 2000
The World Haiku Festival 2000: the official launch of the World Haiku Club, founded 1998, Oxford, England by Susumu Takiguchi, WHC Chairman

The World Haiku Festival 2000 started with the "Prologue to WHF2000" in 1998 with various haiku-related events.

In the year 2000, we launched the World Haiku Festival 2000 Website and started mailing lists [e.g., haikuforum] on the Internet. We also conducted a six-day London - Oxford Conference held on 25-30 August 2000, which was a resounding success.

WHF 2000 activities are continuing and the finale is the May 2001 London Conference. The conference theme is: "Well into the 21st Century - What Now for World Haiku?"

Today,  WHF 2000 continues its role as an umbrella under which various haiku-related events can take place in the furtherance of a world haiku movement. During the year 2000-2002, WHF included various Japan2001 events as well as WHC's regional workshops, local, regional and internet events and festivities.

For further information on the activities and the history of the World Haiku Festival 2000, we direct you to the original WHF 2000 website page. This page will guide you through numerous achievements by the participants in this unique haiku initiative.

You may also read about the various events of WHC/WHF in the Archives pages.
